Painting is $15 US shareware. Use the enclosed Register program to buy Painting. For more details, see the section on ﾒRegistering Paintingﾓ in the documentation.
Painting is quite easy to use, but at least skim the documentationﾑespecially the sections on Shortcuts and Tips. The Features section will at least inform you of things that Painting has that you may have missed. And make sure you read the legal disclaimer in the documentation.
What you should have
Painting application A fat binary that can be used on regular 68k Macs and Power Macs with System 7.5 or better.
Colour Sets folder A folder which contains three colour set files: GX Common Colors (from QuickDraw GX, but you donﾕt need QuickDraw GX in order to use it), Apple Icon Colours (These are Appleﾕs recommended colours for use on icons. These are also the only oneﾕs that darken when you click them.), and Grays.

Register Use this application if you decide to keep Painting to purchase it. There are a variety of payment options. See the documentation for details.
About the Colour Sets Folder
If you make your own colour sets, save them in the Colour Sets folder to have Painting automatically open them when you launch it. Please note that the colour sets stored in the ﾔColour Setsﾕ folder are locked. If you unlock them, any changes you make to the colour sets while using Painting will automatically be saved when you quit. This is a good thing ;)
Version History
Changes in 1.0.3:
･ Option-clicking a drop flag in the Colours palette (those little triangles) makes colour sets all expand or all collapse.
･ The shape tools no longer flicker when using them.
･ Fixed a crashing bug under low memory conditions. The undo command would be available when it shouldnﾕt have been, and using it would cause a crash.
･ Now tells you that a file is already open in another application when saving, rather than giving a generic error number of -49.
Changes in 1.0.2:
･ Fixed a bug so it is now possible to undo after using a shape tool with the stroke disabled.
･ Using the dropper tool doesnﾕt make the document considered changed.
･ Using the line tool with the shift key now works properly.
Changes in 1.0.1:
･ When you use the arrow keys to nudge a selection, the document is now considered ﾒchangedﾓ so you can save it (and it will ask you to save it if you close the document).
･ Fixed a possible crashing bug related to copying to the clipboard. It never happened though...
･ Fixed a memory leak that happened whenever dragging something.
Redistributing Painting
Only give people the original Stuffit Archive that contains the Painting application, the Colour Sets folder (along with the locked colour sets), this Readme file, the Painting Documentation file, and the Register application. Painting may not be redistributed commercially in any way (except for online services) without my written consent.
